Cystic Fibrosis Walk

The pictures are from the 6.2 mile walk that we did for Cystic Fibrosis. It was a lot of fun. We made a rule that no one on are team could complain not even if your feet felt like they might fall off. We all did very good. It was so nice to be with everyone that wanted to be happy and be out there for the same good reason.

This picture is at the start of the 6.2 mile walk with everyone on our team.

This is at the end of the walk and everyone that finished the whole 6.2 miles from are team;-) It took us about 2 hours.

I am so proud of Katie, she is just awesome. She is the only kid from any of the teams that where there that made it to the end of the whole walk from start to finish. WAY TO GO KATIE!! She really wants to help other kids like her with CF and the walk and raising money was a way that she could do that. She was even told she could stop if she wanted to but she wanted to keep walking all the way to the end.

This is the new friend I made. She is 9 weeks old and isn't she just the cutest thing you have ever seen.

Megan did sooooo good she walked about 3/4 of it and got to where she was starting to walk sooooooooo sloooow that I asked her if she wanted to be done and she told me YES. I think that Bob was looking for a way out also so he took her and went to the play ground with Mary & Ashley so we could finish.

After the walk are team went to the Golden Coral for lunch/supper. Nothing like good food to make a good day better!!

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is going it have another walk in September in the Dells and I think if our team is up to it we will be walking in that one also. If any of you want to join are team and go for a very good long walk we would love to have you the more the better.

Amanda's Birthday

We will be celebrating Amanda's Birthday on June 6th at noon in Baraboo. This has changed from the 12th when we going to do it.

Schaetzka Family hosts Memeorial Day Party

We had fun out at the "property". This year since Eva and Jerry weren't able to have it at their place (house ruined by tornado last year) Rebecca volunteered their property. Kandy and Kerry Horrer brought a friend, the Bob Boggs family, Missy, Karen, Martinez Family, Jerry and Eva, Art and I, Mary and Ashley, and Schaetzkas showed up. 4 wheeling was the activity planned and all seemed to have fun. Miki and Justin Barton came at the end. Kandy Horrer took a fall and brought one of the 4 wheelers on top of her, scrapped up her knees but praise God her artificial hips were not hurt it doesn't seem. The two videos at the end are of Mark and Bob racing on the kids 4 wheelers.

Nauvoo was great!

We loved Nauvoo and this is one of the beautiful sites that greeted us when we came into the city. The Temple of the Lord sitting on the hill. It faces West so that it and the SLC temple are like book ends protecting this nation. To the West of the temple is a bronze statue of Joseph and Hyrum Smith. It was inspiring

While on the wagon ride I took this picture of the Temple which sits on the hill as a sentinal.

Nauvoo's old homes are magificantly restored, but this is new and made to look like the period house. There are quite a few like this, but they house missionaries. Most are couples that are called to serve in the temple there or as site guides. This apartment is where my friend Gloria lives.

One of the temple missionaries is my old friend Gloria. When I worked in Washington DC Gloria lived as my roommate. She was from Kentucky and a young Catholic girl. She left as a firm Latter-Day Saint. She and her husband are serving a 6 month Temple Mission. It was great to visit her after many years. We relived old times and caught up on new.

On Tuesday we went on the Carriage, Wagon, and Oxen rides. We went to the Blacksmith Shop and listened to the fellow tell of how the shop was used. He was Elder Daley and referred to the time when he was an upholsterer. I asked where he was from and found he was from Albion Idaho. We had lived there when he had been in the bishopric. This is he and his wifes 3rd mission in Nauvoo. They remembered us and had babysat the twins for us once so we could take Eva to the fair in Burley. It was wonderful seeing them again.

Sister June Daley works in the sewing building making the traditional costumes.

We loved the Carriage ride. Art loved the horses alot.

We went on the Oxen ride and Art some some folks from his Provo Ward. These animals weigh about 2500 pounds a piece and will stand with out being tied up. They became the preferred wagon puller for the Saints. They were less skiddish, ate a greater variety of food, etc.

We spent some time down at the end of the Trail of Hope and saw a huge barge being pushed up the river with a tugboat. It had at least 8 smaller barges hooked together. We weren't sure how big the barges were but I saw one the next day when I walked to the quarry where they got the stone for the temple.

This is one of the individual barges that was being filled with grain.

We went into the visitor center and what was new for us was the First Vision Statue in the lobby. It was beautiful and made me appreciate my testimony of the church.

We toured the monuments dedicated to the woman of the world. Made me proud to know that God loves s his women as much as his men. This statute is a women in prayer.

Wednesday morning we went to Carthage. It was comforting to see the farmiliar statue of Jospeh and Hyrum. It was inspiring to again see the place where the Prophet was killed with his brother and to feel the spirit that accompanies that spot. To see the actuall bullet hole in the door sent chills down me.

We ended the tour below the window where the Prophet fell. My testimony was increased.

Before ending our mini-vacation, we attended the Temple. It was beautiful on the inside. The spiral staircase, the large baptismal font. It was all so wonderul.

These are maginficant windows in the top floor of the Temple. They are star

Ashley at the AF trackmeet

Today I got down to the track at a little after 4:30. I was loking for Ashley. The speaker announced girls hurdeling and I looked and saw Ashley getting ready to go. I thought she finished first, but she said she got 3rd in her heat.

Ashley has on the yellow shirt, 3rd from the left.

Ashley then did the mile in 7 Minutes and 39 seconds. She didn't come in last and did better than the last time I watched in AF.

Ashley then did the triple jump and on the final try she did her personal best of 24 feet 10 inches. We are all proud of you Ashley and love you.

Early Mother's Day Greeting

Isabella came in first and brought me some wonderful tulips that grew in her yard. Davey dismantled the three white ones but the others were beautiful. We had great food that all pitched in with. Mary fixed Rebecca's fish the way Uncle Charley Adams does and there was 2 salads, homemade bread and cinnamon rolls and cheesecake for dessert. Life was good. We talked to Adrian. They sent us out some wonderful pictures taken before Mackenzie was born. It was good to get them.

We were thrilled to have Grandma Foster come over to be with us.

Besides a movie from the Deardens I got 2 packages of wonderful drawings from Ean and Co
I got a wonderful Pink Grapefruit Soy candle from the Martinez Family, a gas card from the Schaetzkas and Tomato Plants from Ashley and Mary.
Megan and Isabella are best friends as well as cousins. The even included Davey in the exercising.

Megans Spring Concert

Megan had her spring concert last night. Mark, me and Grandma Karen (Marks mom) went to it. She did such a good job. They sang six songs - I love the Mountains, Frere Jacques, Do Re Mi, Lines & Spaces/Staff Rock, Waddaly Atcha and Character Counts, and it was over in about 20 min. Kind of a short concert but it was starting to get really hot in the gym so I was glad when it was over. Megan is standing by her art work.

Do Re Mi

Character Counts is the school theme this year. They have puzzle pieces around the school and the community.
