Vacation

Rebecca and I had a wonderful trip across country with Megan. Megan was such a good traveler. It was only at the first rest stop in Wyo. that she finally wondered how much further. She really enjoyed this big rock. There. Sarah put alot about our vacation on her blog, so I will try and fill in some of the missed spots. We got to spend a couple of hours with Adrian and went to see the Provo temple grounds. It is so full of flowers on the grounds. We went to Squaw peak to see the valley. Megan thought it was a bit selfish that Utah valley has 3 temples that could be seen when Wisconsin doesn't have any. Mackenzie got fussy and needed a nap. We were sorry she and Brittany couldn't go with us.
We enjoyed our hike to the bottom of Bryce Canyon. The kids were really great. Ria finally got jello legs the last few blocks.

It was lucky that we were able to attend 2 receptions. Below is a picture of alot of the Wisconsin friends and relatives. It was wonderful.

Out trip to the conference center for the spoken word was wonderful. Megan was able to sit in the inside because she is 8 years old. I really enjoyed the tour afterwards.

It was wonderful weather for a trip on the top. I have always been told there are flower gardens up on top, but 1/2 is like a forrest of pine trees and the other side has wild prarie grasses and flowers. The trees grow in a mixture of special soil made in Fillmore, UT (my hometown).

The flowers were beautiful all over the block.

On the way home we stopped at the rest stop and they had stuffed animals. Eva told us to always stop at the first or last stop because they are the best because they are trying to make a good impression. It worked for us.
Indepence rock was wonderful. It was named by someone who stopped there on the 4th of July. It is 1/2 way between the Missouri River and the West coast. There were alot of very old names and dates on it. Megan and I climbed up on a small side, but I got to chicken to go up too far. Th rock is actually about 4 square blocks big. Didn't think it was big until we walked around the outside.

We enjoyed Mt. Rushmore and hiked as close to it as we could. We found that Washington's eyes are 11 feet wide, nose is 21 feet long, and his mouth is 18 feet. It is huge.

Our last stop was at the Corn Palace in mitchell, SD. The outside of the building was decorated with all sorts of pictures made by stapling corn and parts onto drawings. It was neat but it was too dark to get descent pics of it.

We had a wonderful time and are so glad to get to see all the relatives and friends that we did get to see. Sarah really has alot of great pics on her blog.
